Sleep? Who needs sleep?

It's strange how quickly you forget some of the challenges of a newborn. Cayden is doing well, but he's up a few times during the night. Then if the other boys get up at some point, or anything else happens (like Cayden struggling with gas and being extra fussy), you end up not getting a lot of sleep. I know that it's the first six weeks that are the worst, and we're almost through two of them, but boy am I tired!

Jeff would be proud

Yeah, yeah, so I got the date wrong. Neither of our other kids showed any signs of coming early - how was I supposed to know? At least he's here and cute!

I noticed something. On a few occasions Terra has finished feeding Cayden and sits him up to burp him. She pats him a few times and then he lets this belch go that makes me envious! Our other boys had these "cute" little burps, but not Cayden! Nope, he tries to make the room rattle. It's kind of amusing.

So we're told earlier today that we could finally take Cayden home. I get some stuff ready, and take it out to the car. I come back to find Terra trying to change Cayden's diaper. Only thing is, he has no diaper on, there is poop everywhere, and Terra is laughing her head off while trying to shove a baby wipe up his butt to make it stop! I expected her to tell me to get a cork, but I think that she was laughing too much.

Gotta go.

The countdown is on

Yup. 17 days until the next little Ulriksen child shows up. We had another Doctor's appointment yesterday (and by we, I mean Terra was grilled and inspected while I read the newspaper and magazine and tried to pay enough attention that I looked involved. Yesterday wasn't the best "support your wife" day I've ever had - usually I'm not quite so distracted). Everything looks good and we did all of the hospital pre-op stuff, so now we just need to wait a few more weeks and go check her in.

We're really hoping it's a girl. We're running out of boys names that we really like and want to use.

Giants won the Superbowl. Whoddathunk it? I'm not sure who I was cheering for, so I'm relatively okay with that. Good fourth quarter, although the rest of the game was kind of weak.

I got to lead worship on Sunday. And preach. On homosexuality (we're discussing "Issues" at present - stuff like gambling, drinking, Sabbath, etc) It's a good series, and the sermon went well, but I was exhausted afterward. Went home and slept for three hours, and was still exhausted. Fortunately my wife loves and supports me lots, and she let me sort of watch the Superbowl (I wasn't super-passionate about it, so I played some with the kids) and she did a lot to take care of the kids. I love my wife. This week I have a nice, light topic to preach on - divorce. That doesn't actually affect anyone's life, does it? Sigh. Another tiring week coming up....
